The “World Cup of Softball” is coming

For the fifth-straight year, the “World Cup of Softball” is set to take place in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Scheduled for Thursday–Monday, July 22–26, the event will feature four teams: Team USA, Team Canada, Team Japan, and the USA Futures.

Team USA defeated Team Japan in the XII International Softball Federation Women’s Softball World Championships in Venezuela, last Friday, July 2, to become the number one team in the world.

“The World Cup of Softball gets more exciting each and every year, and 2010 is no exception,” said two-time Olympian Jessica Mendoza. “Where else can you see the best softball in the World, and see the U.S. face off on home soil? Only at the World Cup in Oklahoma City.”

All six of Team USA’s games (and the championship game) will be broadcast on either ESPN, or ESPN 2; these games will also be simulcast online at ESPN3.com.

Highlights from the WCS will be discussed, and shared on this blog.
